The Heart of Russia expansion for Euro Truck Simulator 2 was announced a few months ago to much fanfare. With Russia being both Europe and the world’s largest country, this map expansion of Euro Truck Simulator 2 would naturally be its biggest ever. SCS has been releasing a steady stream of new details and screenshots over the last few weeks. But now the team has provided the most comprehensive look yet at the new Heart of Russia content for Euro Truck Simulator 2 with a 20-minute gameplay video.
The footage shows off a full drive from the Russian settlement of Vyazma to Kaluga. They’re both to the far east of Russia, laying south of Moscow. The route looks particularly lush, with an immense amount of forestation and rolling fields, along with lakes and rivers. Russia is often first thought of as being a frozen-over landscape, so this expansion will allow those who’ve never traveled to the real country a chance to drive through some of its varied environments.
Just from this Heart of Russia gameplay snippet alone, it appears that this expansion is going to provide quite a lot of “scenic routes” — something that SCS consistently leans into. The design has only gotten better with time, with an increase of complexity and accuracy of the maps with each new release. For instance, this video shows pedestrians in much greater quantities — some are even walking the streets.
True, this is a relatively minor detail by most game standards. But it’s something both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator have only recently began to embrace in a meaningful way.
