Saints Row Vehicle Customization Looks Deeper Than Most Racing Games

Saints Row has always had incredibly thorough character creation, but it seems to be extending this to all things customizable in the new game. A recent Saints Row trailer showcased character customization, vehicle customization, weapon customization, and a peek at how players can customize their empires. Ahead of this, Game Rant was able to view a presentation on its customization options.

At first glance, Saints Row’s vehicle customization options look deeper than most racing games—if because most racing games aim for some level of realism, while the Saints throw that out the window. There are over 80 vehicles in the game, including the basic expectations and a ton more on top of that, like food trucks, hoverboards, VTALs, and more. There’s even one vehicle, the Frying Dutchman, that appears to be a SpongeBob SquarePants reference.

Every aspect of the vehicle can be customized, with one dev commenting that this is the deepest customization set in the series. Everything like hoods, roofs, tires, spoilers, side skirts, and far more are customizable, but the depth of the options is where Saints Row shines. Regarding tires, for example, players are even able to adjust the profile of the tire—from extremely low to extremely how. There are special rim options, like that they be made of wood, and players can even customize individual axles should they so choose.

Vehicles also come with signature abilities that allow players to use their vehicles in ways most games do not.
