Imagine if Sailor Moon needed an app to refill the glass shards that she shoots out of her Kaleidomoon Scope or if her transformation had to be programmed into a computer first — and that's the new shojo manga Magilumiere Co. Ltd.
Just released via Jump Plus, Magilumiere Co. Ltd. is set in a world where the rising number of monsters known as Kaii Phenomenon has led to the proliferation of so-called Magical Girl Corporations whose eponymous heroes perform rescue operations and fight against this ongoing threat. The manga introduces readers to these corporations through the first-time experiences of Kana Sakuragi, a recent student grad who is extremely hardworking and exceptional at memorizing minute details but can't land a job because she doesn't have an original thought. But then Kana uses what she remembers from a recent seminar she attended on magical girl technology to help startup company Magilumiere's Magical Girl Hitomi Koshigaya stop a Kaii attack during one of her regular job interviews. Magilumiere hires Kana on the spot who must learn everything about how Magical Girl Corporations function along with the reader.

Even though Sailor Moon heavily relies on comedy, Magilumiere Co. Ltd. takes its comedic aspect to a whole other level by essentially satirizing the whole shojo magical girl genre. What Sailor Moon fans would undoubtedly appreciate most is how this new manga gives its own spin on Sailor Moon transformations.
