Games like God of War Ragnarok have been etched in as the next big releases for the start of the new console generation. Unfortunately, game development post-2020 has been a toss-up as to what games actually hit their first — or even second — publicized release date. God of War Ragnarok was already expected in 2021, but that date was ceded to give the developers more time to work without severe crunch. If the newest rumors are true, God of War Ragnarok may be moving again.
The rumor is the game may move to the latest possible time to count as 2022. This is a little concerning as moving out of September leaves little room for a release before the Holiday and awards season. On the upside, a move to early 2023 will move God of War Ragnarok out of a release window that seems congested. With the Saint's Row reboot, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, The Callisto Protocol, The Last of Us Remake, and possibly many other AAA and indie games with the generic «2022» placement yet to be officially pinned on to an exact date.

Multiple sources obtained by VGC and other insiders suggest that the release of God of War Ragnarok may fall just barely out of 2022. The source cited claims that multiple «European sources» believe that the sequel game may be or already slipped to possibly 2023. There's also evidence from retail listings that were recently changed. A tracker that keeps up with release windows on digital storefronts saw a change in the God of War Ragnarok from September 2022 to December 2022.
