Marvel has been aggressively partnering with game publishers and developers to create a diverse range of licensed games based on The Avengers, Spider-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, and more. As exciting as it is for Marvel to explore a diverse range of genres for licensed games, however, there are traditional genres like fighting games that fans always want Marvel to return to. That wish may be coming true again, as leaks indicate Marvel has chosen its new fighting game partner — Electronic Arts.
Leaks began to spread this past week regarding Marvel partnering with Electronic Arts for a new game, with the main leak originating from XboxEra podcaster Shpeshal Nick. Nick says that he's heard Marvel is partnering with Electronic Arts on a new game tied into one of its IPs. Nick did say, however, that the leak came from a source he wasn't entirely confident in, but decided to share the news anyway.

Nick wasn't the only one to share news regarding the Electronic Arts Marvel partnership, however. Leaker thethiny on Twitter claimed they also had a source regarding Marvel partnering with Electronic Arts for a new game. However, they had the added information the game would be a fighting title. They provide no additional information on the project but do mention that it's unrelated to the rumored NetherRealm Marvel project.
What makes the situation all the more mysterious is that Electronic Arts' only internal fighting game studio is its EA Sports UFC team at EA Vancouver.
