Warner Bros. has officially delayed the release of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League to 2023.
Previously scheduled for release this year, the game will now arrive next spring, the studio confirmed on Wednesday.
“We’ve made the difficult decision to delay Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League to Spring 2023,” Rocksteady creative director and co-founder Sefton Hill said.
“I know a delay is frustrating but that time is going into making the best game we can. I look forward to bringing the chaos to Metropolis together. Thanks for your patience.”
The PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC game is billed as a “genre-bending action-adventure shooter” set in an open-world Metropolis.
Playable solo or with up to four players in online co-op, its original story follows Suicide Squad members Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang and King Shark, who are on a mission to save Earth and kill the world’s greatest DC Super Heroes, The Justice League.
Suicide Squad was announced alongside Gotham Knights at 2020’s DC Fandome event and its first gameplay trailer was released in December.
