Roblox has announced that it will be joining hands with Nickelodeon and Paramount to bring SpongeBob SquarePants and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to the platform. With the Gamefam-owned platform continuing to grow in popularity since Roblox went public a few years ago, Gamefam has been turning towards more collaboration opportunities in a bid to grow its footprint. This announcement comes as the latest addition on that front.
While Roblox had a strong presence in the gaming industry over its 26-year period, it wasn't until its availability on iOS and Android that the virtual sandbox really started to thrive. Gamefam continued to build on the platform's growth trajectory, most notably by bringing popular IPs onto Roblox. Recently even the popular entertainment franchise Dave and Buster's launched its D&B World onRoblox. Now it looks like Gamefam may be bringing more popular franchises to the platform in the near future.

Announcing its latest collaboration effort, Gamefam stated that SpongeBob SquarePants and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be coming to Roblox, with both of these will be two standalone experiences developed by the company. As per Paramount Senior Vice President Doug Rosen, the idea is to «let the millions of SpongeBob SquarePants and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans inside these worlds play and explore alongside the iconic characters they know and love.» So far, no release date has been announced although both of these projects are expected to go live later in the year.
The SpongeBob and TMNT announcement follows other popular collaboration efforts such as Sonic the Hedgehog on Roblox. In fact, both SpongeBob and TMNT already exist in the Roblox world.
