Musician and filmmaker Rob Zombie has shown off the first images from the inside of the 1313 Mockingbird Lane set for his upcoming adaptation of The Munsters. The film will mark the first time since 1966 that The Munsters franchise had been adapted for the big screen. To date, Zombie has been generous with photos and updates from the set of his production, which is currently taking place in Hungary.
The Munsters TV series originally aired for just two years, from 1964 to 1966, but still made a considerable impact on audiences in that time. Blending both classic monster movie horror elements and 60s era sitcom humour, The Munsters was unlike anything else seen on TV up to that point. As a major fan of the series, Zombie has previously indicated that he wants his film adaptation to honor that original series, with the 57-year-old calling the current Munsters house set “the most perfect Munsters house since 1964.” Having wanted to make the film for decades, Zombie finally has his chance and although his past films have been far from family-friendly, The Munsters looks to aim for a wider audience with its PG rating.

Despite keeping fans up to date on the status of The Munsters’ production, everyone has been waiting to see what the 1313 Mockingbird Lane set will look like inside. At last, Zombie has provided that opportunity, with some new photos courtesy of his official Rob Zombie Instagram account. The photos show off a richly detailed and gothic-looking mansion, perfectly suited to house the entire Munsters family.
