Return to Monkey Island will be released on September 19. Yes, that's International Talk Like a Pirate Day.
Announced during Gamescom's Opening Night Live, the long-awaited sequel (and apparent conclusion) to the seminal adventure game series will hit Switch and PC next month. It will arrive for other consoles at a later date.
The announcement was paired with a trailer that included, of all things, horse armor jokes (which just sits in your inventory). We also got a closer look at the updated artwork.

Announced earlier this year. Return to Monkey Island is a sequel to the second game in the series, and mostly ignores the events of the original Monkey Island 3 and subsequent games. The project brings together original co-creator Ron Gilbert, co-writer Dave Grossman, and composers Michael Land, Michael McConnell, and Clint Bajakian.
The game won't be strictly old school. It will feature an easy mode and hint system, and also includes a new art style. The latter has been divisive, leading Gilbert to say he would no longer be posting about the game on his blog due to online abuse.
