Capcom is notorious for rereleasing its old games. And the company isn’t stopping that anytime soon, as it just announced that it is putting out current-gen upgrades of both the and remakes as well as 2017’s on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. There’s no release date — they’re just scheduled for later in 2022 — but they will all be free upgrades for existing owners and will also come to the PC through an update.
These free upgrades will contain some new features like ray tracing (which also had), 3D audio support, and a “high frame rate,” but it’s unclear if that latter option means a 120 frames per second mode like since the games already run at 60 frames per second. PS5 owners will also be able to experience the haptic feedback and adaptive trigger support.
Capcom did not reveal if PS5 players will be able to transfer their saves if they already played it on PS4, which was a feature in that allowed PS4 users to bring their progress to the PS5. Those on Xbox will be able to take advantage of Smart Delivery and PC owners are only seeing an update to the game they already have, meaning the transition will likely be seamless in both scenarios.
Resident Evil 2, 3, and 7 are coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with visual enhancements later this year!
