The sub-Rs. 25000 segment oversaw two new smartphones that could woo a lot of customers. On one hand, we have the Redmi Note 12 Pro from Xiaomi that launched recently in India. The Redmi Note 12 Pro stands out with a different design in the Note 12 series, a flagship grade Sony camera sensor, a 120Hz AMOLED display, and a fairly capable midrange chipset. Prices, however, are a bit on the higher side and push the Pro variant above Rs. 20000 for the first time.
This is where Realme 10 Pro comes in. Starting at Rs. 18999, the Realme 10 Pro claims to offer the same kind of thrills at a much lower price. The specs are good on paper and that lower price tag may draw a lot of consumers towards itself. The question, therefore, arises for buyers who are willing to spend Rs. 20000 on their next smartphone – which one to pick?
Both phones flaunt a similar iPhone 12-inspired boxy design and edge-to-edge display with minimal bezels. Both phones feature a punch-hole style camera cutout but the rear is where they differ. The Redmi has a glass back that gives it a lead over the plastic back of the Realme 10 Pro.
Another area where the Redmi Note 12 Pro nabs a win. The 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate is superior and the segment best. The Realme 10 Pro has a 6.7-inch 120Hz IPS LCD display that lacks colour vibrancy and brightness the Redmi has to offer.
The Dimensity 1080 on the Redmi Note 12 Pro has a slight advantage in terms of raw power when compared to the Snapdragon 695 on the Realme 10 Pro. However, both chips are equally capable in the real world. The Snapdragon 695 is better optimised for power efficiency while the Dimensity 1080 is suited for gaming with its higher CPU clockspeed.
