Garmin recently unveiled the Quatix 7 series of smartwatches aimed at boaters and seafarers, but how does it compare to the company's Fenix 7 smartwatch range? Garmin is one of the leading smartwatch manufacturers in the world, alongside Apple and Samsung. However, while the last two offer mainstream products for regular consumers, Garmin's smartwatches are typically laser-focused devices aimed at professionals and fitness enthusiasts.
Garmin has been on a launching spree in 2022, having already announced a slew of smartwatches and fitness bands in the first few months of the year. The list includes the Vivomove Sport, Venu 2 Plus, Epix Gen 2, and of course, the Fenix 7 series that was announced in January. Most of these are premium smartwatches, barring the affordable Vivomove Sport.

There are three models in the Quatix 7 line, including the Quatix 7, Quatix 7 Sapphire, and Quatix 7 Solar. The Fenix 7 line also comprises three different models — the 42mm Fenix 7S, the 47mm Fenix 7, and the 51mm Fenix 7X. These are further classified into Standard, Solar, and the premium Sapphire Solar versions. The Solar models come with a Garmin MIP display with a solar charging ring around the screen. Both the Quatix 7 and the Fenix 7 smartwatches come with 10ATM water-resistance and offer the usual suite of health-tracking features, including a heart-rate monitor, advanced sleep monitoring, and pulse oximeter. Both watches also offer smart notifications for emails and texts, safety and tracking features, as well as support for Spotify, Deezer and Amazon Music.
