Q-Games has announced a new entry in its long-running PixelJunk series.
Set for release on PS4 and PS5 this year, PixelJunk Scrappers Deluxe is a party game brawler which tasks players with cleaning up the Japan-inspired cyberpunk streets of Junktown.
The debut trailer for the game is viewable below.
“PixelJunk Scrappers Deluxe combines the nostalgic excitement of traditional arcade brawlers with the multiplayer madness of couch co-op classics for a real hybrid experience,” Q-Games CEO and game director Dylan Cuthbert told the PlayStation Blog.
“It’s a beat ‘em up that’s also a clean ‘em up, with a focus on cleaning up the streets of Junktown. Both literally, by stacking trash, and figuratively, by wiping out waves of enemy robots.”
Q-Games said the title has been designed to be easy to pick up and play yet challenging to master. Players can choose to play alongside an AI helper bot or with up to three other players locally or online.
PixelJunk Scrappers Deluxe includes over 25 levels across five regions. “From collaborative missions to head-to-head challenges, minigames to boss battles, no two trips to Junktown are ever the same,” Cuthbert claimed.
The PixelJunk series started out on PlayStation with 2007’s PixelJunk Racers, with subsequent series entries appearing on multiple platforms over the last 15 years. The most recent release was 2021’s Stadia exclusive PixelJunk Raiders.
