Horizon Forbidden West is out and it’s just as good as the first game. Maybe it could have done a little more to differentiate itself from Horizon Zero Dawn, but most aren’t complaining about more of the same with a brand-new story.

We have Twitter user hypedomi to thank for this PSA and video showcasing Horizon Forbidden West’s gyro controls in action. Enabling gyro controls is buried in the game’s settings but activating it “makes aiming so much easier.”
It works similar to the Steam Deck’s gyro controls. All you have to do is move the controller in the direction you wish to aim. Since the gyro controls are much more sensitive than the DualSense’s thumbsticks, this allows you a level of control that’s normally reserved for mouse and keyboard users.
Thumbsticks have historically suffered when it comes to precise aiming, which is why most first-person shooters have to enable forgiving aim-assist settings for anyone playing on consoles. Witty gyro controls becoming more common, perhaps devs will have to revisit the common approach to helping out with aim.
Even if you don't want to enable gyroscopic aiming (and you really should on the PS5), there are plenty of other accessibility settings in Horizon Forbidden West that can greatly enhance your experience. The game allows you to fully remap your controller and enable settings like auto sprint and heal. There's even a co-pilot mode that mirrors the controls on a second controller
