It’s no Nintendo Direct, but Pokémon fans can look forward to a dedicated presentation that will include new footage for Scarlet & Violet.
Given how casually it released new trailers for Bayonetta 3 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s DLC last month, we wouldn’t have put it past Nintendo to do the same with a new trailer for Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.
Instead, fans are being given a slight heads up, since The Pokémon Company has at least a few announcements planned for another one of its Pokémon Presents showcases.
It takes place this Wednesday on August 3 at 2pm BST and will last for 20 minutes.
Exact details are scarce, with the announcement only saying it will feature ‘updates on Pokémon apps and video games, including Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.’
Hopefully, aside from new pokémon, characters, and locations, whatever footage is shown will further detail the game’s status as the series’ first properly open world adventure.
That information wasn’t really put across in the last trailer and was only revealed on the game’s website, which says that you’ll be able to explore the Spainish-inspired setting however you like, and with friends to boot.
It’s not clear how much time will be spent talking about Scarlet & Violet either. Although they are the next mainline games and will release in a few months (November to be precise), it’ll need to share the spotlight with other announcements.
Ongoing titles like Pokémon Go and Pokémon Unite will likely get a mention and there could very well be at an announcement for at least one brand new spin-off game.
Pokémon Sleep and Detective Pikachu 2 are also long overdue an update, considering both were announced in 2019 and haven’t been talked about since. The latter still doesn’t have a trailer.
