There are around 900 different pocket monsters currently implemented in various mainline Pokemon games, including Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. All Pokemon have their fans, but not all Pokemon are equally available--Mythical Pokemon are notorious for only being available to catch during real-life event periods. Now, Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl players have the opportunity to catch the Mythical Pokemon Shaymin, but they're running out of time.

Shaymin is a Grass-type Mythical Pokemon known as the Gratitude Pokemon. It's well known for having two forms: Land Forme, which looks like a green hedgehog with two pink flowers on its head, and Sky Forme, which looks more like a very tall cat or very small deer. In Sky Forme, Shaymin becomes a Grass/Flying-type.

Currently, gamers can get Shaymin in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl by accessing the Mystery Gift function between February 27, 2022, and March 26, 2022. Players who connect to the internet, choose Mystery Gift from the menu, and select the Oak's Letter Gift can trigger the event. Once they have the Oak's Letter Gift, the event can be triggered at any time as long as the item stays in the player's inventory--it will be listed as a Key Item. When ready, players must go to Route 224 and meet with Professor Oak.

In order to unlock Route 224, players must first have unlocked the game's National Pokedex and acquired the HM Strength. Once those qualifications are met, the Route can be accessed from the back entrance of Victory Road, down the waterfall.
