You can play Splatoon 3 two weeks ahead of its launch via a special Splatfest event, which will introduce new three-team matches.
Ahead of its launch next month, you’ll be able to play Splatoon 3 early as part of a Splatfest World Premiere.
Announced during today’s Splatoon 3 dedicated Nintendo Direct, the Splatfest events, where players choose a team and compete in online turf wars to earn points, are making a comeback.
However, Splatfests will be even bigger going forward, as there will be three teams to pick from. That means, for the first time in the series, three separate teams can compete at once.
Dubbed Tricolour Turf War, this looks to be an exclusive mode for the Splatfests and will take place during the second half of the given event.
During the first half, each team will take turns facing off against each other in the usual 4 vs. 4 mode. Tricolor Turf Wars take place during the second half, where the team in first is placed in the centre of a map, while the other two come at them from either side.
It doesn’t allow for hectic 12-player matches, though, as while four players for the leading team must participate, only two players from each of the other teams will be included.
The Splatfest preview will be available on August 27, two weeks before the game launches, from 9am to 9pm UK time.
The rest of the Direct mostly focused on all the basic gameplay details, such as the different returning modes, online play, new and returning weapons (every weapon from the previous games will be back), and stages.
Speaking of, the game will launch with 12 stages, but more will be added as free DLC, alongside additional weapons and customisation items.
