Less than a year after it launched, it's probably fair to label Babylon's Fall a failure of the highest order at this point. That's right, Babylon's Fall launched less than a year ago. Despite the poor reception and the mistakes made, PlatinumGames has revealed it still plans on creating more live service titles.
Platinum CEO Atsushi Inaba spoke about the studio's prior and upcoming projects with VGC, so of course, the topic of Babylon's Fall was broached. Inaba was asked if the studio's live service plans have changed in the wake of Babylon's Fall. Inaba confirmed that is not the case, and Platinum will continue to try and break into the lucrative live service industry in the future.

“There’s a lot that we learned from this experience, and it’s not changed our future plans or outlook moving forward regarding doing live service games at all,” Inaba confirmed. “Live service games are definitely something we do want to do and put our effort in moving forward." The CEO said there are two live service pillars - making their core mechanics fun and performing the live service - and striking the balance between those two is the key.
Inaba was also asked about his and Platinum's frustration with not having full control over Babylon's Fall with Square Enix as its publisher. While the CEO naturally didn't want to shift any blame to Square, he did highlight that when Platinum has full control over a title, it must shoulder all of the blame if it fails, but enjoys all of its success if it's a hit. Suffice to say, both Square and Platinum must share the blame for what has happened to Babylon's Fall.
