Villainous animals go good in Dreamworks' The Bad Guys, which crashes into theaters this weekend, starting April 22. Sam Rockwell (who has recently explored his voice acting chops in Trolls World Tour and The One and Only Ivan) stars as the leader of the potentially reformed gang, Mr. Wolf. He is joined by a host of hilarious actors who portray his ex-criminal cohorts, ranging from Awkwafina (Shang-Chi) and Craig Robinson (Peacock's Killing It) as Tarantula and Shark respectively to Marc Maron (GLOW) and Zazie Beetz (Atlanta) and much more.
Perifel spoke to Screen Rant about the animation styles and films that influenced his vision for The Bad Guys, the easy way the cast found elevated their characters, and his own hopes for a sequel.

Pierre Perifel: Oh my gosh, thank you so much. I really appreciate it.
The animation style is just incredible. Can you tell me about finding that?
Pierre Perifel: Absolutely. This is a style that is something that I've been wanting to see on American animation for quite a while now. Probably because I grew up with it when I was a kid.
But it is really funny, because it's kind of becoming a bit of a trend in France, honestly. Not the movie, but that style of animation for the last few years, really. It's kind of the crossroad of very classic, traditional animation productions that we've had in France, but also a lot of anime influence that has been cross-pollinating each other.
