The developer behind the acclaimed Persona franchise, Atlus, recently announced a partnership with tabletop publisher Pandasaurus to create a co-op card game based on Persona 5 Royal. This apparently is already in the works and will be seeing the light of day at some point next year.
Pandasaurus describes itself as a “hobby and mass-market board game publisher that strives to create immersive, connecting experiences through gaming. Since publishing their first game, Tammany Hall, in 2012, co-owners Molly Wardlaw and Nathan McNair have seen the company blossom into a household name amongst gamers and beyond. Their vast catalog includes worldwide smash hits such as Machi Koro, Dinosaur Island, and The Mind.”

“Atlus is partnering up with Pandasaurus Games to publish a Persona 5 Royal card game designed by Emerson Matsuuchi,” the company wrote on the official blog. Matsuuchi is mostly known for the tabletop games Century: Eastern Wonders and Foundations of Rome, both critical hits. “Players will take on the roles of their favorite Phantom Thieves and fight to change the world in this cooperative card-based strategy game,” the designer noted.
“As a diehard fan of Persona 5 Royal, I cannot wait to bring the Palaces, Velvet Room, and world of Persona 5 Royal onto tabletops everywhere in 2023,” McNair said.
Pandasaurus apparently plans to release the upcoming title in “Q4 of 2023,” but a banner on the official blog states that “on October 21, we will steal your heart.” The release date which appears in the picture could be provisional or possibly even erroneous. The company has not released any specific details about the game.
