Peacemaker Season 2 Can Perfectly Pay Off Bloodsport's Suicide Squad Story
Peacemaker season 2 could perfectly pay off a character arc from another anti-hero who also appeared in 2021's The Suicide Squad: Idris Elba's Bloodsport. With Peacemaker being described as a sequel/spin-off to Gunn's initial film it continued the titular character's arc that was established in The Suicide Squad. This could also be the case with Bloodsport, with his arc at the end of the film being tied directly to Peacemaker as a character.
The events of The Suicide Squad saw Peacemaker (John Cena) being hired directly by Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) to destroy a drive containing evidence of the USA's involvement in Project Starfish. This mission leads Peacemaker to clash with characters such as Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman) and Ratcatcher 2 (Daniela Melchior), before eventually engaging in a shootout with Robert DuBois, also known as Bloodsport. This conflict completely alters their relationship. With a previous scene in the film featuring the two assassins competing by seeing whose murderous skills could be put to more effective use, their relationship was an almost playful rivalry. This then quickly turns sour in a deadly shootout between bitter enemies towards the end of the film.

With the HBO Max show revealing Peacemaker is alive and well after Bloodsport tried to killed him, DuBois would likely have some questions regarding Peacemaker's continued work. Bloodsport's character arc in The Suicide Squad saw him go from a cold, calculating killer, to forming a strong connection with the likes of Ratcatcher 2 before becoming the impromptu leader of the Suicide Squad.
