Blizzard has released the newest trailer for Overwatch 2: Invasion.
The trailer introduces Illari, the 38th hero to be added to the game’s extensive cast. As reported by GameRant, Illari’s characterization and abilities have not yet been fully revealed yet. However, Blizzard acknowledged that fan speculation was spot on on her Peruvian descent and solar based powers, based on an earlier teaser trailer for the character.
As you may already know, the much touted and controversial PvE mode Invasion is all about Null Sector’s attacks on major cities. Null Sector seems to be kidnapping other Omnics along the way, and it’s up to the players to find out what their new plan is.
These missions start with Resistance, in Rio De Janeiro, and then Liberation in Toronto, ending with Ironclad in Gothernburg, Alongside this is the new core mode, Flashpoint, as well as the Flashpoint maps Survasa and New Junk City. There will also be new limited time free event updates that appear weekly , starting with King’s Row: Underworld.
Also announced is an intriguing new mode called Hero Mastery, which looks like an expanded version of the training mode. While some gamers may see a lookalike of Aimlabs or Kovaak’s, it also evokes the VR Missions in various Metal Gear games. We’ll see if Blizzard makes it a compelling game mode to play in its own right.
Blizzard is also announcing the Overwatch 2 Anniversary Event this coming September 19. For week 1 they will have Battle for Olympus, week 2 will have Starwatch, and week 3 will be Mischief & Magic. These modes come with cosmetics, available for only a limited time.
