One Piece Fans React to Luffy's New Gear Fifth Powers

Big transformations are an important part of shonen manga, and One Piece recently unveiled its greatest powerup yet with Luffy's Gear Fifth. Luffy unlocking the incredible power of Gear Fifth is a massive moment for the series and, good or bad, fans have been losing their mind ever since the new form's big reveal.
In One Piece #1043, the chapters long battle between Luffy and Kaido appeared to have been concluded when the distracted leader of the Straw Hat Pirates was caught off guard by the full force of the master dragon's Kanabo mace. With Luffy appearing to everyone, including Kaido himself, to have finally succumbed to Kaido's attacks, fans' fears were quickly put to rest when in the chaos of Kaido's attempt to wipe out the rest of the Straw Hat crew, Luffy's tell-tale grin cracked across his seemingly lifeless face. Not only did Luffy make a miraculous recovery from a blow that would have obliterated a lesser person, but he came back stronger than ever. Indeed, in a Goku-like power-up transformation, rather than kill Luffy, Kaido's attacks stressed his body to the point where it unlocked another level of his «Gum Gum» ability. The new ability, which is known as Gear Fifth or Gear 5, is the highest level of Luffy's powers to date. The incredibly powerful form gives Luffy access to some of One Piece's most disgusting attacks.
