If you like to stream games on a relatively new Mac, Nvidia has some good news for you today. The latest GeForce Now update introduces native support for Apple M1.
The GeForce Now 2.0.40 update was released yesterday and enables the macOS app to run natively on any Apple M1 Mac, be that MacBooks, iMac, or the Mac mini. Nvidia says the benefit of doing so includes faster startup, lower power consumption while it's running, and "an overall elevated GeForce Now experience."
Nvidia also improved the app to include a genre row at the bottom of the games menu, which offers a new way to search through the available games. And those games now include the ability to stream the Lost Ark MMO published by Amazon Games.
GeForce Now boasts more than 1,000 games that can be streamed to a Windows PCs, Macs, Android (including Android TV), Chrome, Safari, select LG TVs, and is currently in beta for the Edge browser.
Free access limits you to one-hour sessions on a basic rig, but two premium options exist. Priority membership costs $9.99 per month and allows six-hour streaming sessions at up to 1080p/60fps. The RTX 3080 membership is $19.99 per month and allows eight-hour streaming sessions at up to 1440p/120fps.
Alongside the updated service, Nvidia has introduced premium membership gift cards to "spoil a special gamer in your life." They are available with $20, $50, and $100 amounts attached, unlocking two, six, and 12-month RTX 3080 premium memberships respectively.
