Star of the hit Hulu romantic drama Normal People, Daisy Edgar-Jones has opened-up on her excitement for audiences to see her in a completely different kind of role in her new film Fresh. Written by Lauryn Kahn and directed by Mimi Cave, Fresh sees Noa (Edgar-Jones), a woman who has become highly disillusioned with dating, falling for the seemingly charming and friendly «Steve» (Sebastian Stan). But as the pair continue with their new-found relationship, it becomes clear that the man is not all that he seems and «Steve» has a horribly disturbing ulterior motive. Since its premiere online at the Sundance Film Festival, Fresh has gone-on to garner a number of positive reviews, particularly for its spin on the horrors of modern dating.
Prior to her performance in the black comedy-thriller, Edgar-Jones was best known for her role as Marianne Sheridan in the Hulu miniseries Normal People. Adapted from Sally Rooney's bestselling novel of the same name, the series follows students Marianne and Connell Waldron (Paul Mescal) as they develop a complex relationship that spans their time at school through to their years as undergraduate students at Trinity College Dublin. As the series progresses, the difficulties and traumas the two characters separately experience begin to develop and shape their bond with each other. Much like its namesake novel, Normal People achieved widespread critical acclaim, with Edgar-Jones earning nominations for the BAFTA, Golden Globe and Critics' Choice Awards for Best Actress.
