The summer months in 2022 took another turn for the game industry as the ESA once again announced that its traditionally annual Electronic Entertainment Expo would be canceled in full, with no digital show to replace it. As such, companies have been scheduling their own showcases to fill in the gap such as Microsoft holding an Xbox-specific event back in June, Ubisoft planning an Assassin's Creed event in September, and Bungie revealing future content for Destiny 2 this month.
While fans still wait for larger companies like Sony to announce its next first party State of Play, Nintendo is forging ahead with its own plans. While the company has yet to announce anything close to a first party Nintendo Direct presentation, the Treehouse Live segment is finally coming back. Originally a major part of Nintendo's E3 presence, this year's version is getting its own live presentation on August 25 featuring two games and three segments.
Splatoon 3 File Size Is Smaller Than First Revealed
The 2022 Nintendo Treehouse Live presentation kicks off at 9:30am PT and will be devoting a good portion of that time to the upcoming online shooter, Splatoon 3. Fans tuning in will be getting a deep dive into the game's single player mode known as Return of the Mammalians and focuses on the apparent return of mammal-like creatures. Little is known about the single player side of the game, though the most recent Splatoon 3 direct showed the return of many familiar franchise characters like Marie and Callie.
