Nicolas Cagesays that he would reprise his role in Face/Off 2, a potential sequel to the 1997 John Woo action film, and a cult classic. Cage, known for his eclectic and varied body of work, has starred in over 100 films and has developed a following among movie fans for his unique acting style and range of roles. In more recent years, he's opted to star in lower-budget independent films such as Joe, Mandy, Color Out of Space, and Pig, saying it gives him more creative freedom in how he approaches his roles.
Face/Off follows FBI Agent Archer (John Travolta) as he undergoes experimental surgery to switch faces with violent criminal Troy (Cage) to ascertain information on a bomb threat. The film was a hit, grossing over $240 million at the box office, and received positive notices for its action sequences and the performances of Travolta and Cage. Godzilla vs. Kongdirector Adam Wingard announced he was working on a direct sequel to Face/Off in February 2021.

In a Reddit AMA, when asked if Cage would return for the sequel he responded in a word "Yes." Though it's unclear if Cage has been asked to reprise his role, the fact that Face/Off 2 is a direct sequel leaves the door open for Troy's return, despite his apparent death at the end of the original film.
