The next Witcher's game director has said "never on my watch" in regards to crunching.
In the lead-up to Cyberpunk 2077's release, it was reported that CD Projekt Red employees were being asked to work six-day work weeks between September and December to get it finished in time for launch. The studio has also previously admitted that crunch on The Witcher 3 was not "humane", as well as saying "This approach to making games is not for everyone," when confronted about the workplace conditions back in 2017.

One Twitter user didn't forget these past examples of crunch when Jason Slama, the game director for the next Witcher game, announced his position on the project and advertising roles on the team, saying, "I am super thrilled to announce that I have humbly been working to ensure the success of the next big AAA The Witcher game as its Game Director! Think you could join the team? We have tons of roles open with the possibility of remote work we could discuss!"
In response to his Tweet, a Twitter user said, "You forgot to mention the sign on bonus of horrible crunch and being treated like a dog", referencing the previous examples of crunch at the studio for Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3.
Slama responded to the Tweet with, "Never on my watch!", seemingly indicating that the studio is intending to approach this game's development without crunching. Of course, many studios intend not to crunch on their games, so it's by no means a promise that it won't happen, but it seems that CD Projekt Red has learnt its lesson with Cyberpunk 2077.
