August is almost here, which means a whole new slate of shows and movies to watch on Amazon Prime Video. Some of the content is available starting on August 1, while other shows and movies will be available a little later next month.
Sonic the Hedgehog's sequel film hit theaters back in April, and though it split critics, it's a good fun popcorn flick perfect for staying inside with the AC starting August 10. In GameSpot's review, critic Phil Hornshaw said, «What works about Sonic the Hedgehog 2 really works, and it's easy to forgive its foibles because it's just so much fun.» Paramount is very enthusiastic about the Sonic series, and was quick to announce a third movie and a TV series as part of its plans for a Sonic the Hedgehog cinematic universe.
On August 5, The Outlaws return for Season 2. This British dramedy co-created by Stephen Merchant (The Office UK, Extras) and Elgin James (Mayans M.C.) is about seven strangers who begin their community service sentences renovating a derelict building in Bristol, but wind up implicated in a criminal conspiracy. The show is a little oddball and boasts a quirky tone, though it's ably held up by a cast that includes Merchant, Christopher Walken, and Rhianne Bareto--and across its diverse talent ably keeps things moving in a pleasing and often surprising way thanks to the writing.
Below is a list of all the content coming to Prime Video in August.
