A third-party Nintendo Switch controller aims to serve as a superior alternative to Nintendo's official Joy-Con and Pro controllers, by promising users it will never suffer from drift. Drift has been a problem for Switch players since the first version of the console launched in 2017, and still persists across newer models, the Nintendo Switch Lite, OLED, and the latest versions of the Joy-Cons.
Perhaps one of the most common hardware issues with the Nintendo Switch, drift occurs when the console mistakenly reads an input, even without the player moving the stick. Many attribute stick drift to wear-and-tear, while others believe dust, dirt, and grime could be the culprit. Over the years since the Nintendo Switch released, users have found their own creative workarounds for drift, whether inserting cardboard under the Joy-Con shell, or even replacing inner parts themselves. The only official option when Nintendo Switch players experience this issue is to send their controller to Nintendo for a repair — an option that is now free after lawsuits were filed due to Nintendo charging for the service. Other than this, fans can opt to buy new Joy-Cons, but the issue can persist even with new purchases.
