The Netflix comedy series Space Force has been canceled after two seasons. Created by Steve Carell (The Office) and Greg Daniels (Parks & Recreation), the series centered on the somewhat bumbling endeavors of Space Force, a newly formed branch of the US Armed Forces. Making its debut in May of 2020, the show starred Carell as the freshly appointed chief of operations, General Mark R. Naird. Joining him were familiar faces such as John Malkovich (In the Line of Fire), Benjamin Schwartz (Parks & Recreation), Diana Silvers (Booksmart), Jimmy O Yang (Silicon Valley), Tawny Newsome, Don Lake, and Lisa Kudrow (Friends).
Now, according to Deadline, Space Force has officially been canceled by Netflix following its second season. Low viewership, as well as average reviews, were cited as the reason behind the decision. With season 2 failing to rise above the number 5 slot on Netflix’s Daily Top 10, the show joins the streamer's other recently axed shows such as Raising Dion, Archive 81, and The Baby-Sitters Club.

Inspired by former President Donald Trump’s real-life formation of Space Force, the show hoped to claim a dedicated comedy fan base through The Office collaborators Daniels and Carell. After the debut of its second season in February, the series appeared to fail in its efforts to win over viewers despite a change in creative direction and the enlistment of comedy veteran Ken Kwapis.
