China's NetEase has invested in Polish virtual reality studio Something Random.
The news was originally broken in Puls Biznesu and confirmed by the developer's CFO Piotr Goguś, who said that it had a "strong partner" in NetEase. This was part of a seed round of funding
This is NetEase's first adventure into Poland and is part of the company seemingly trying to diversify its business outside of its native China amid increased scrutiny of tech and games firms in the region.
"The world of VR games has a very dynamic future, and there is a huge potential in it," Something Random CEO Cezary Skorupka said.
"Virtual reality is an area in which we have experience, and a global investor appreciated not only our achievements so far, but above all, invested in games we are currently working on."
NetEase Games has recently set up new studios in Japan and the United States.
