Audiences aren't the only ones eager to see the Oscar winner return to the franchise as National Treasure: Edge of History creators Cormac and Marianne Wibberley are begging Nicolas Cage to appear in the TV show. Cage starred in the original movies as Benjamin Franklin Gates, the youngest link in a lineage of treasure hunters with ties to major moments in America's history. The first National Treasure movie centered on Ben as he tried to prove his family wasn't crazy by locating a treasure hidden by the Founding Fathers of the US while the second saw him searching for a way to clear his ancestor's name of being a conspirator in Abraham Lincoln's assassination.
National Treasure: Edge of History acts as a continuation of the film franchise and shifts the focus to Jess Morales, a 20-year-old DREAMer who discovers her family's own past ties to major historical events and a legendary lost treasure. Lisette Alexis is leading the cast of the Disney+ series alongside Lyndon Smith, Zuri Reed, Jake Austin Walker, Antonio Cipriano, Jordan Rodrigues and Catherine Zeta-Jones. With the cast of the TV show also including the returns of Justin Bartha as Riley and Harvey Keitel as Sandusky, many are hopeful for one major star to return for National Treasure: Edge of History, including the creators themselves.
