A recent MultiVersus datamine reveals that references to several characters, including Gandalf from The Lord of the Rings and Eleven from Stranger Things, have been cut from the game. The massive Warner Bros. crossover fighting game pulls together characters from various franchises including DC Comics, Game of Thrones and Looney Tunes. The MultiVersus open beta soft launched the game today, July 26, and the title's newest version has removed references to certain Warner Bros. icons.
Like other crossover fighting games, MultiVersus boasts a large roster of heroes and villains from various properties. However, unlike Super Smash Bros., most of these playable brawlers come from different films and television series created by Warner Bros. In MultiVersus players can fly around as Superman, wield Gem abilities as Steven Universe or wreak havoc as the Tasmanian Devil. All of these characters are also fully voiced by recognizable actors, and developer Player First Games will continue adding additional characters to the free-to-play title over time. Recently MultiVersus confirmed Rick, Morty and LeBron James as future fighters, but other anticipated characters may have been cut from the crossover experience.

As reported by TheGamer, a recent datamine reveals that voice lines referencing various characters have been removed from MultiVersus' files. According to Reddit user JPMB5555 the chaotic crossover's files previously contained voice lines referencing Gandalf from The Lord of the Rings, Eleven from Stranger Things, the titular protagonist of Craig of the Creek and Game of Thrones characters Daenerys and The Hound.
