The start date of the MultiVersus open beta has been revealed alongside gameplay of The Iron Giant. The upcoming crossover fighting game will pull together characters from various Warner Bros. properties like DC Comics, Game of Thrones and Looney Tunes. Back in May MultiVersus revealed The Iron Giant, taken straight from the 1999 animated film of the same name, and fans can now watch the robotic hero in action.
MultiVersus appears similar to other crossover fighting games like Super Smash Bros. and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, but its roster is much more expansive. Players will be able to choose from a lineup of characters including Batman, Bugs Bunny, Steven Universe and Arya Stark for intense platform combat. MultiVersus is also set to be a free-to-play live-service title, with developer Player First Games adding even more fighters to the ring post-launch. The game is primarily based around 2v2 matches, though other game modes will also be available like 1v1 and free-for-all. A MultiVersus closed alpha test was held back in May, and soon many more players will get to experience the mash-up mayhem in an open beta.

A MultiVersus announcement video, posted to YouTube, reveals that free access to the game's open beta will begin on July 26 across all platforms. Players can also sign up for early access to the beta, which will begin on July 19, alongside those who participated in the closed alpha. Player progression earned in the MultiVersus open beta will carry forward into the full version of the game.
