Elizabeth Mitchell is reprising her role as Mrs. Clause in the upcoming The Santa Clause sequel series. Released in 1994, The Santa Clause stars Tim Allen as Scott Calvin, a businessman who must take up the reins of Santa Claus when St. Nick falls off his roof. The film earned nearly $200 million for Disney and launched a franchise, with The Santa Clause 2 in 2002 and The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clausein 2006.
Now, Deadline reports that Mitchell is returning alongside Allen for Disney+’s Santa Clause series. The Lost alum first appeared in The Santa Clause 2, when Allen’s character must find his better half in order to carry on the Santa lore. Mitchell returned for the third installment in 2006.

The Santa Clause series marks yet another opportunity for Disney’s new streaming service to refresh and capitalize on existing franchises. It’s not the only ‘90s legacy franchise being rejuvenated — Disney+ has also launched a Mighty Ducks series geared at new viewers and nostalgic fans alike. The Santa Clause series comes from showrunner Jack Burditt, creator of another Allen hit, Last Man Standing.
Per the series’ synopsis, “Scott Calvin is on the brink of his 65th birthday and realizing that he can't be Santa forever. He's starting to lose a step in his Santa duties, and more importantly, he's got a family who could benefit from a life in the normal world.”Production on The Santa Clause is set to begin in March 2022 in Los Angeles.
