Microsoft is adding a new game length feature to PC Game Pass, so gamers can see how many hours it will take to complete a game.
How long a game takes to complete can vary widely, so Microsoft partnered with HowLongToBeat(Opens in a new window) to offer as accurate a prediction as possible. There's actually up to four game length times listed per title, offering a prediction for the main story, main story and extras, completionist, and all styles.
They different time ratings break down as follows:
Main Story: only completing all the required main objectives to see the game credits.
Main Story + Extras: main objectives and all the additional tasks/quests/medals/unlockables.
Completionist: when you do absolutely everything in a game and achieve 100% completion.
All Styles: a mix of all the play styles listed above to give an average.
PC Game Pass also includes a "View Details" link allowing you to submit your own playthrough times and help make the predictions more accurate. There's also links to community reviews, playthrough notes, and further data breakdowns for each game on the service.
As well as introducing the game length predictions feature, Microsoft released an update for the Xbox app on PC which allows it to load 15% faster. Users should also notice the latest version is more responsive, search results appear up to 20% faster, game downloads or install failures have been reduced "by nearly half," and crash-free sessions reached a rating of 99.9%.
