Although major game releases typically slow down during the months between June through August, fans have come to expect the time to be filled with major announcements and reveals. Normally, the month of June would be dominated by industry events, though for the second straight year, the Electronic Entertainment Expo has been canceled. To fill the void of one massive show, companies and studios have instead opted to hold their own digital events for fans to tune into.
Next week, Microsoft plans to hold a massive digital showcase alongside its first party studio, Bethesda. The Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase, which typically led off the slew of E3 showcases, kicks off this coming Sunday and has led fans to speculate as to what could be shown. Obsidian continues to tease content, though with multiple games currently in development like Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2, what is actually show could be anyone's guess.
Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase Will Be as Long as Their E3 Shows
However, it seems Microsoft may have almost too much content to share with fans as the company announced a second showcase two days later on June 14. Known as Xbox Games Showcase Extended, Microsoft confirmed that fans can expect even more new trailers, a deeper dive into gameplay revealed during the first event, as well as developer interviews. This second broadcast is also planning to run for around 90 minutes, so fans should have plenty of content to dig into.
Unfortunately, details as to what will be shown continues to be scarce though there are some experiences that fans believe will be shown. Although it was recently delayed out of 2022, Bethesda's Starfield is expected to be revealed fully at the Xbox Games Showcase, leading to a constant drip
