Media Molecule has announced that studio co-founder and art director Kareem Ettouney is leaving the company.
In a statement released on Friday, the Dreams and LittleBigPlanet maker confirmed that Ettouney will be moving on in early 2023.
“Since day one, Kareem has been essential in defining the look, the feel and, without a doubt, the very ethos of who we are and what we do at Media Molecule. We are forever grateful for everything he’s done for us and our community,” the studio said.
“It wouldn’t feel right for Kareem to depart without a personal goodbye to the community, so we’ll be streaming live with him on 17th January 2023. We’ll be looking back at his time at Media Molecule and checking out a few of his personal Dreams highlights.”
Ettouney co-founded Media Molecule in 2006 with, among others, creative director Mark Healey and technical directors Alex Evans and Dave Smith, who all previously worked together at Lionhead.
Shortly after the release of Dreams in 2020, Evans announced he was leaving Media Molecule to take a break from game development and explore new opportunities.
The Guildford, UK-based studio, which is also behind the Tearaway series, was acquired by Sony Interactive Entertainment in 2010.
