Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars, the planned conclusion to Marvel’s Multiverse Saga, have the potential to be even bigger than Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, but they cannot repeat the Infinity Saga’s best trick. After almost the entirety of the MCU Phase 4 plan was released, Marvel Studios revealed its wider plans for Phases 5 and 6, and most importantly, for how everything will be paid off with two Avengers movies in 2025. Marvel’s plans for the Multiverse Saga are actually quite similar to the Infinity Saga, at least in terms of what everything leads to, meaning that comparisons between The Kang Dynasty/Secret Wars and Infinity War/Endgame will be difficult to avoid.
After Endgame had the biggest opening weekend in history and went on to become the second highest-grossing movie of all time, it was difficult to picture how Marvel could top its own success for the following MCU phases. That said, there were plenty of Marvel comic book arcs that could serve as the source material for cinematic events even bigger than Endgame, with Secret Wars being the best example. As soon as Loki started to deal with the multiverse, it became clear the MCU was indeed paving the way for its version of Secret Wars, although Kang The Conqueror was also being set up. Now, Marvel reveals that both Kang and Secret Wars are part of the same MCU story and that it all leads to Avengers 5 and6.
