Without a doubt, many are still reeling from the explosive reveal that Xbox/Microsoft is in the process of acquiring Activision Blizzard with that said to be completed sometime in 2023. Many reasonably hope that Xbox is able to clean up some of Activision Blizzard’s messy workplace culture, while questions about current Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick’s future are being raised too.
Ultimately, there are a ton of questions and no answers—and there won’t be until the ink dries either. For now, fans will just have to wait and see how this acquisition goes down, but it’s not likely to be forgotten either. McDonald’s, for example, seems to be having a little fun with it.

McDonald’s recently posted an innocuous box of French fries, with the caption to reply with a pinching finger emoji to “steal” one. As social media accounts for brands often interact, Xbox commented with the emoji, to which McDonald’s responded with a custom image of an Xbox Series X controller with its logo and the pinching finger emoji. In kind, Xbox responded with a custom red Xbox Series X console and controller image, with fries coming out of the console itself. It’s a silly, fun back-and-forth, but then McDonald’s hit Xbox with a “are u trying to acquire me too?”
As of this writing, Xbox hasn’t managed a response and, at this point, it seems unlikely too. It’s quite hilarious, almost on the same level of Wendy’s calling Xbox out on Halo Infinite’s co-op functionality. Overall, while the topic at hand here with McDonald’s is clearly serious, it seems to be mostly in good fun.
