A new Mass Effect mod lets players see the fully-animated face beneath Tali’s signature visor. Tali'Zorah nar Rayya is one of the many allies Commander Shepard recruits in the original Mass Effect trilogy, with players meeting the young Quarian on the Citadel during the first Mass Effect game. She would go on to become a loyal member of Shepard’s team as they fought to protect the Milky Way galaxy from the threat of the Reapers, appearing as a full squadmate in both Mass Effect sequels and proving to be a popular character among players thanks to her sweet personality and impressive technical skills — not to mention her somewhat tragic backstory as a member of the nomadic Quarian race. Mass Effect players could also romance Tail as a male Shepard in the latter two games, provided they secure her trust by completing her Loyalty Mission in Mass Effect 2.
One of the things that made Tali such a popular and interesting character among Mass Effect fans was the element of mystery surrounding what she looks like underneath her helmet. Like all Quarians, Tali must wear a face-concealing protective suit outside of her home planet due to having a weak immune system, although she eventually leaves a picture of herself outside of her suit in Shepard’s private courters following her aforementioned romance in Mass Effect 3. However, many fans felt underwhelmed by this reveal since the picture was simply an edited stock photo instead of an original rendering; these fans continue to create fanart of how they think Tali's unmasked face should really appear. Developer BioWare seems to agree with this sentiment, as the updated Mass Effect: Legendary Edition altered the portrait to be a more original design.
