Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Could Include Filters That Work During Gameplay
If it is like the first two entries in the series, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will include some alternate suits with unique art styles, and Insomniac could make these costumes even more fun to use with some filters that impact the rest of New York City. Though a majority of the outfits featured in the Marvel’s Spider-Man games stick with the default, realistic art style, the flashier suits that are made to look animated can be some of the most fun to use.
However, while it is fun to wear costumes like the Into The Spider-Verse suit from Spider-Man: Miles Morales — especially because of the extra work done to give the suit the same choppy animation from the film — it is hard not to feel out of place when wearing this costume and swinging around. Filters like those seen in games like The Last of Us Part 1 could change that, with Insomniac using the mechanic to make the webslinger’s more unique outfits feel a lot more natural when used in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

If a Vintage filter was added to the entire game, players could feel as if they were living out an issue of The Amazing Spider-Man, with all the NPCs being given cel shaded looks like Peter Parker. Such a filter would likely evoke nostalgia in fans of Ultimate Spider-Man, a classic game that had a similar visual style.
