Fans finally have a release date forMarvel’s Midnight Suns, as well as some more information about the playable characters and special costumes that will be available at launch. XCOM developer Firaxis first unveiled its upcoming supernatural superhero turn-based RPG title during Gamescom 2021 with an intense reveal trailer that highlighted the heroes of the Marvel Universe as they band together to take on a new demonic threat. Since then, details have been emerging about Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ card-based combat and third-person exploration of a hub world known as The Abbey, which helps set Firaxis’s newest title apart from its previous work on the XCOM series.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns will put players in the role of The Hunter, an original and fully-customizable hero that is summoned by the other Marvel heroes to help defeat their demonic mother Lilith — who is currently leading the sinister forces that are threatening the world. This roster includes a wide range of fan favorites from Marvel's roster, including the expected magic-based heroes like Doctor Strange, the Robbie Reyes version of Ghost Rider, and Magik of the New Mutants alongside a few more puzzling offerings like Iron Man and Captain Marvel. Marvel’s Midnight Suns was initially set to release in March, but it would be pushed back until later in the year to allow Firaxis more time to polish the game’s story and cinematics.
