A heroic collaboration will allow Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy players to unlock free Marvel's Avengers skins. Both Marvel titles were published by Square Enix, but Crystal Dynamics developed the multiplayer Avengers project while Eidos-Montreal handled Guardians of the Galaxy and its interplanetary narrative. Marvel's Avengers offered Guardians of the Galaxy items to celebrate the space adventure's June 2021 launch, and now a second collaboration is ready to land.
Despite both being published by Square Enix, Marvel's Avengers and Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy are two very different superhero experiences. Marvel's Avengers allows players to control various members of Earth's Mightiest Heroes, ranging from Iron Man to Hulk, and puts an emphasis on multiplayer content. Crystal Dynamics' title launched to poor reception, and despite a series of content updates the game has been unable to recover its playerbase. Meanwhile, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy focuses entirely on single-player gameplay from the sole perspective of Star-Lord, with the other Guardians given commands during combat. While Square Enix was disappointed by its sales, the intergalactic adventure received high praise for its story, world and gameplay.

It was recently announced by Marvel's Avengers (via Twitter) that players who also own Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy will receive two free MCU outfits. The costumes, belonging to Black Widow and Hawkeye, are taken straight from the beloved blockbuster Avengers: Endgame.
