Marvel's X-Men villain has been given a stunning new clone twist — one with massive implications for the Marvel universe. The mutant race is truly ascendant; Earth's mutants have united on the living island of Krakoa, and at last year's Hellfire Gala theX-Men claimed the planet Mars as home for millions of mutants recovered from another dimension. Unfortunately, the hatred and fear with which mutants are viewed has not dissipated, and their enemies have unified in an organization called Orchis.
One of the key players in Orchis is a Machiavellian mastermind who calls himself Dr. Stasis. A ruthless scientist, he discovered the X-Men's Resurrection Protocols and attempted to force them into a situation where they were compromised by their own secrecy. Cyclops spotted the trap, however, and went public instead — much to Dr. Stasis' frustration. He then managed to track Dr. Stasis down, and unmasked him — to see the familiar face of Mr. Sinister, a classic X-Men villain who now sits on Krakoa's ruling Quiet Council.

Immortal X-Men #4, by Kieron Gillen, Michele Bandini, and David Curiel, reveals there's more to Dr. Stasis'/Sinister's origin than anyone realized. Confronted with a projection of Cyclops' memories, Mr. Sinister notes one crucial detail the others have overlooked — that Dr. Stasis has a different shape branded on his forehead.
