Warning: Preview spoilers forImmortal X-Men #5 ahead
As A.X.E.: Judgment Day escalates between the X-Men and Eternals, the powerful mutant Exodus' mysterious and immortal connection to the powerful Phoenix Force is explored in the pages of Kieron Gillen's Immortal X-Men #5. Each issue of Immortal X-Men has focused on one of the impressive members of Krakoa's Quiet Council, and this issue promises to unveil much of the Omega-level mutant Exodus' mysterious past, and perhaps a hint at his future.
A.X.E.: Judgment Day focuses Druig's manipulated Eternals waging war against the mutants of Krakoa and Arakko over their perceived «excess deviation.» But it seems like the Eternals don't know about Exodus' intimate connection to the Eternals, specifically to the powerful Sersi. First debuting in 1993's X-Factor #92 as the mutant terrorist Magneto's right hand man of the Acolytes, Exodus' past and history were not fully explored until 1996's one-shot Black Knight: Exodus. Bennet du Paris was a 12th century Crusader, an incredibly faith-based man who was best friends (and potentially lovers) with an early incarnation of the Black Knight, a man named Eobar Garrington. Black Knight: Exodus by Ben Raab and Jim Cheung shows Sersi and Dane Whitman, the 20th century Black Knight, transported back in time with Dane taking over Eobar's body and mind. This leads to Bennet continuing on his quest to find the «Tower of Power» in Akkaba without Eobar. Along the way, while slowly dying in the desert, Bennet eventually manifests his powerful mutant psionic abilities before eventually reaching Apocalypse, who uses his Celestial technology to transform Bennet into the Exodus known in modern times.
