Mark Hamill has added the Bernie Sanders meme to the biggest Star Wars debate. The passion that the very first Star Wars movie created amongst viewers has long been evident, especially in the ways they engage with each other about the events in the galaxy far, far away. From social media posts to hilarious real-life cosplays, the debates amongst Star Wars audiences have always had a heart as fiery as Mustafar's lava behind them. New debates emerge with each new installment of the franchise as viewers' passion only continues to grow.
However, no debate amongst Star Wars fans has been as long-lived and intense as the showdown between Han Solo and Greedo in the Mos Eisley Cantina. Ever since 1977's Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope first released, viewers have been asking whether the smuggler or his foe shot first in the quick blaster draw that ended up killing Greedo. With the grime of a blaster bolt left on the wall behind Han, it has never been fully clear which character pulled their trigger finger first, even if Han was the only one who made it out alive. Audiences have gone back and forth for decades now in an attempt to decide once and for all which one of them fired the first shot.

Now, Luke Skywalker himself has added to the debate with his own hilarious addition. Mark Hamill has taken to Twitter to share a fan-made edit of Senator Bernie Sanders seated at the same table with Han and Greedo, bringing back a popular meme from 2021. The actor tops it off by writing, "Turns out Bernie shot first," fully connecting it to the famous Star Wars debate. See Hamill's tweet and the full edit below:
