The first trailer for M. Night Shyamalan's next film has arrived, and it is suitably spooky. The movie, Knock at the Cabin, follows the story of a young girl and her parents who, when on vacation at an idyllic remote cabin the woods, are contacted by four armed strangers who call upon the family to «make an unthinkable choice» to save the world.
«With limited access to the outside world, the family must decide what they believe before all is lost,» reads a line from the film's description.
Jonathan Groff and Ben Aldridge play the parents of the little girl, who is played by Kristen Cui. The film also stars Dave Bautista, Rupert Grint, Nikki Amuka-Bird, and Abby Quinn as the four strange people who knock at the cabin and demand the «unthinkable choice.» Just what this choice is remains to be seen, but given Shyamalan's history of fake-outs, it's possible the «choice» is not all it seems.
Shyamalan directed the film and co-wrote the script with Steve Desmond and Michael Sherman. It's based on the book The Cabin at the End of the World by Paul Tremblay.
Knock at the Cabin is Shyamalan's first film since 2021's Old. Shyamalan's films are known for their twist endings, so it'll be interesting to see what happens in that respect for Knock at the Cabin.
Shyamalan's best-known film is 1999's The Sixth Sense, for which he earned multiple Oscar nominations. Some of his past projects included Signs, Unbreakable, The Village, Lady in the Water, After Earth, The Visit, Split, and Glass.
Knock at the Cabin is distributed by Universal Pictures and will be available exclusively in theaters when it releases on February 3, 2022.
