LOTR: The Rings Of Power Will Debut Two Days Early In Theaters
Amazon's fantasy TV show The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will debut two days early in theaters as part of special screenings taking place across the world.
The first two episodes will screen at theaters on August 31, which is two days before the show comes to Prime Video. The one-night event is being held at Cinemark theaters across the US and Canada, and it's only available to Cinemark Movie Rewards members (membership is free).
Tickets to the special screening go on sale today, August 22, at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET. They also come with a $10 snack voucher, according to Variety.
The runtime for the event is 130 minutes, or 2 hours and 10 minutes. Pricing was not announced, but that should become clear soon when tickets go on sale.
Cinemark is a US and Canadian theater chain, but Amazon will also host screenings in the UK, Ireland, Argentina, Colombia, Australia, and New Zealand, though specifics on theaters, pricing, timing, and other details are not immediately clear.
The Rings of Power premieres Thursday, September 1, at 6 PM PT / 9 PM ET on Prime Video. There will be two episodes available then, with the remaining six in Season 1 premiering Fridays at midnight Eastern.
The Rings of Power premieres not long after HBO's fantasy show, House of the Dragon, which dropped its first episode on August 21. Author George R.R. Martin has commented on the so-called «rivalry» between House of the Dragon and The Rings of Power, saying he hopes both shows succeed.
